It's getting impossible to shoot out front once I get home due to the shadows... good thing there are still roses sprouting out back! Just loved the bud against the fully bloomed rose, against the pale house.

201 : Purple burst flower and bud
The nice thing about being able to shoot at lunchtime is that the sun is up high, as opposed to when I get home at 5:30 and flowers are already in shadows. Just love how all the colors turned out on this one... really vibrant greens and purples. Think it's interesting that there are still some flowers budding... even in late September.

192 : Tangerine rose
Somehow the flowers in the backyard just keep on blooming. Seemed like they had died out a few weeks back, but maybe the cooler weather and some rain has brought them back to bloom. Just really love how the colors on this shot turned out, from the vibrant and warm orange and yellow to all the dark greens of the rose plant.

188 : Sunflower facing down
A handful of the sunflowers seem to be in this position now... with their face looking down after that crazy windy storm we had last weekend. Certainly makes for a bit of a different shot than I'm used to, but I suppose that's a good thing... like the detail on the black seeds against the pale yellow petals.

184 : Half-lit sunflower
Found a break in the weather to go out and shoot the sunflowers, but to my horror a bunch of them had toppled over due to the crazy wind we've been having! I stood up as many as I could, but looks like some of the taller ones aren't going to make it. I did find this little orange one at around waist level and got a handful of pictures of it against the green of the rest of the sunflower.

180 : One and a half daisies
Towards the end of their lifespan, the petals on the daisies always get some interesting traits... the petals turn a bit brown and crispy, little holes start forming on the petals, just little things I think can make them a little more visually interesting. Love the daisy on the left with holes in the petals and some decaying our the edges... neat textures.
